Winter on the Farm is all about the greenhouse.  We spend most of our days raising our seedlings and creating ideas for our gardens, and yours too!  We think color schemes-bright and bold, or soft pastels.  We try to create gardens with focus on textures  We wonder how to mix containers with flowers and vegetables. Some days, when it is sunny we crack open the doors a little to get some refreshing cool air inside. On cloudy or rainy days we bundle up and turn up the heat!

One of the great things about being in the greenhouse during the Winter months is that we are able to enjoy fresh greens and herbs.  We plant enough to munch on for lunch, or to bring home our dinner tables.

Greens are very easy to grow in the greenhouse environment. We raise Romaine, dandelions, and escarole.  Some herbs are grown from seed-basil, dill, parsley and cilantro because they germinate very quickly. Other herbs like:  Rosemary, thyme, mint, sage and oregano are made from cuttings, because they germinate to slowly in our Winter climate so we give them a head start.

While our days are spent seeding, transplanting, and dreaming about our Summer gardens the season quickly turns from the cold, damp Winter into the longer, warmer days of Spring.

Visitors are always welcome.  See you at The Farm!
